Mother and Child

This is the last piece of the Ball People series for now. I need to move on to something else, but might come back for more after a break. It was interesting for me to experience the evolvement of the series. There’s a huge difference between the first piece and the last.

The sculpture is 13x5x4 1/2 inches. It is entirely made of papier mache clay.

I see much in this piece that it makes me giddy! Protection, protection and more protection, humility, innocence, gentleness, patience, delight and whimsical loveliness of childhood….

    Thank you Erika

Yes, definitely, I was thinking of madonna paintings when I made this. A contemporary version I guess. The child has a metal ring on his left foot. It looks like I posted the wrong picture. Thanks, Kate/Erika 🙂

Your work in papier mache clay in this “ball people” series has been remarkable. I have so enjoyed the progression and especially the work-in-progress photo series a bit earlier. Daryle, from Woodstown Whimsies

Wow, thanks Daryle, I had no idea that step-by-step work would get such a great feedback.
